Double success

May 2004

Japanese compact car specialist Daihatsu celebrated double success after very strong sales in May and a highly successful Motor Show at the NEC in the UK.

May sales soared to over 70 per cent more than the same month last year leaving Daihatsu passenger car sales in tghe UK over 31 per cent up overall year to date.

Key display models at The Sunday Times Motor Show Live at the NEC in the UK, meanwhile, proved so popular that Daihatsu is to order more for sale in the UK in the coming months.

One car in particular, a one-off all-white Copen sports car, proved such a hit that it had been sold off the stand within hours of the show opening.

Now Daihatsu is to import a limited number of the pearlescent white version of the 660 cc turbocharged two-seater, complete with heated red leather seats, to meet the demands of other disappointed would-be buyers.
