Ford Motor Company's first Sustainability Report

October 2005

Ford Motor Company's first Sustainability Report, Our Route to Sustainability, is now available to download at http://www.ford.com/go/sustainability. It replaces Ford's previous corporate citizenship reports and introduces a new format and approach to reporting. It is more tightly focused on the company's most material issues, and on Ford's overall vision, strategy, challenges and opportunities.

Highlights of the report include:

- chapters providing an in-depth look at Ford's response to the issues of mobility, climate change and human rights
- a letter from the president and chief operating officer reflecting a commitment to integrate sustainability issues into Ford's operations
- a five-year record of key performance indicator data showing, for example, an 18 per cent reduction in energy used and a 19 per cent reduction in water used in Ford's facilities and improvements in fuel economy in the US and Europe
- information on Ford's engagement with a Report Review Committee, and the Committee's unedited opinion letter on the quality of the report.

Ford's full web report at http://www.ford.com/go/sustainability, available at the end of the month, provides additional data and information on social, environmental and economic management and performance for 2004/05 organized by Ford's Business Principles. A standalone report examining the business implications of the climate change issue will be published in late 2005.
