| Iveco, the world's largest manufacturer of
diesel engines over 70 hp, has launched a new brand for its engine business
unit, to be known as Iveco Motors. Iveco produces over 1,000 engines every
day for use in applications ranging from boats to buses and even trains,
as well as in its own range of commercial vehicles spanning the 2.8 to
44 tonne market sector.
The creation of Iveco Motors demonstrates the company’s ambitions
to work more effectively with its external customers, in view of the fact
that 60 per cent of its engine production is for sale to customers outside
the Iveco Group.
Josè Maria Alapont, chief executive officer of the Iveco Group,
explains: "The new Iveco Motors brand strengthens the image of Iveco’s
engine production, which is now approaching 400,000 units a year, with
a range that is already on the cutting edge worldwide for its outstanding
technology."
Riccardo Tardì, vice president of Iveco’s Powertrain division,
explains: "The company's decision to create Iveco Motors is also linked
to the complete modernisation of our entire engine range, from the light
Sofim HPI, to the medium-duty NEF and tector, and the heavy-duty
Cursor engines, as well as the "V" engines for special applications. These
environmentally-friendly engines offer customers outstanding performance
and excellent quality, coupled with economic fuel consumption –
a complete package which adheres to the most stringent global emissions
standards.
" This demanding process of renewal, which has drawn on Iveco’s
engineering expertise in this field, was undertaken with the goal of having
a product that would adapt to the most varied applications: commercial
vehicles and buses, agricultural machinery, rolling stock, industrial
equipment and power generation," says Mr Tardi.
