  Mazda launches Mazda2 and concept at Geneva

Mazda is to launch the Mazda2 on the European market at the Geneva Motorshow in March. The car is being built in Japan: the previous Mazda2 was built in Spain as well as Japan.

Mazda says the Mazda2, known as the Demio in some markets, is the first of a new generation of Mazda products that are an evolution from the series produced since 2002.

The company is also to show a new diesel engine in a Mazda 3 and will show the Hakaze concept car for the first time in Europe.

The Hazake, the first of four concepts Mazda will launch this year under the banner of "Nagare", or "flow" is a compact crossover that is intended to feel like a roadster. There is a part-removable roof and the bodywork has no handles or mirrors, and no B-pillar. It was designed at Mazda's European design centre in Germany.
