  TVR division goes into administration

02 January 2007

Blackpool Automotive, the manufacturing division of sports car maker TVR has been put into administration.

The division was formed after restructuring last year, and its name changed from TVR Engineering and Production only last May.

TVR said that the parent company and TVR itself will remain in operation, and that “normal business continues for the company and its networks of authorised dealers and service centres throughout the UK and abroad.”

In October it was announced that production of the cars was going to be moved from Blackpool and transferred abroad, with the result that 250 workers would be made redundant.

These plans have since been dropped and administrators PKF (UK) LLP were called in and have said that the firm would be sold as a going concern.

What exact assets are held by Blackpool Automotive and would be up for offer, including the TVR name, has yet to be finalised.

Union officials are to meet with administrators today to discuss the future of the company.
