Toyota confirms UK site will build Auris

06 December 2006

Toyota has confirmed that its UK manufacturing site at Burnaston near Derby will build the new C-segment Auris car to be launched in 2007. Sales begin on 1 February.

Auris has been designed at ED2, the group's European design and development centre in France. It will also be built at the Adapazari plant in Turkey which builds the Corolla Verso. Burnaston supplies the Avensis to European markets.

Toyota has said that it wants to achieve European sales of 1.2 million vehicles by 2008.
