Cutting costs

August 2005

Seat is planning to cut working hours and wages by around 10 per cent at its production site at Martorell, according to management. This is reported to be due to temporary overstaffing.

The Spanish carmaker is aiming to reduce staffing costs by approximately 10 per cent for the short term, and management reports that the only alternative would have been a reduction in staff numbers. The duration of the reduction in working time will be limited to one or two years, it is reported.
