Antonov signs heads of agreement with Geely for six speed automatic transmissions

29 November 2006

Automotive technology company Antonov has signed a heads of agreement with Zheilang Geely Automobile Gearbox Co, a subsidiary of Geely Automotive, for the production of its TX6 automatic gearbox.

One of China ’s leading OEMs, Geely will work with Antonov to develop the six speed transmission to suit the timing of its vehicle programs and also to offer the unit to other OEMs around the world. The proposed production licence agreement would see Antonov receive both licence fees and production royalties.

Geely has so far taken two other automatics to into production and the TX6 would complement these. An Conghui, vice president of Geely Automotive, said: “Geely are pleased to have signed heads of agreement on this production licence for the Antonov technology, which will further strengthen Geely's transmission product range.  We look forward to working with Antonov on their transmission technology.”

John Moore, CEO of Antonov, said: “We are pleased to be working with Geely who have already developed their own transmissions and have the production infrastructure in place. This will enable a rapid programme to start of production.”
