Renault sales fall cushioned by non-European growth

5 July 2007

Renault's group sales fell by 3.8 per cent to 1,266,343 units in the first six months of 2007, with a 9.1 per cent sales fall in Europe offset by growth in non-European markets.

The company grew non-European sales by 10.1 per cent to 400,412 units, and sales outside Europe accounted for 31.6 per cent of group sales, against 27.6 per cent for the first six months of 2006.

The big group success was the Logan, which sold 158,913, a 28.4 per cent increase over the same period last year. The car is sold under both Renault and Dacia names.

Sales and marketing vice-president Patrick Blain said that the sales would start to bounce back in the second half of the year as products such as the new-generation Twingo and Laguna models were introduced.
