Dürr wins assembly contract for China expansion

28 January 2008

Automation company Dürr Factory Assembly Systems has won a contract to supply a second car assembly line to the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile Company in China.

The new line will be at the Dongfeng plant at Wuhan in Hubei province, where Dürr installed the first assembly line in 2006 and 2007.

The new plant has been designed for a capacity of 44 vehicles an hour, and four vehicle types on two different platforms will be manufactured on it.

The line will consist of a chassis line based on free and powered conveyors, skillets for the trim line and a dual-strand slat conveyor system for final assembly. There is also a water test booth with conveyors for doors and equipment module assembly, roller conveyors for motor subassemblies and electric monorail systems to load pallets before the marriage stations.

The contract also includes four modules of Dürr's Fastplant system which is a modular assembly system that can be rapidly set up or redeployed. DCPA will use this initially for training.
