Dacia puts pick-up into Romanian Logan range

18 February 2008

Renault-owned Romanian carmaker Dacia has added a pick-up to the Logan range of vehicles. The Logan Pick-up uses the chassis from the Logan MCV and has a choice of Renault petrol or diesel engines.

The pick-up is to be made at Dacia's Pitesti factory and goes on sale in Romania in March at a starting price of €7,250.

The Pitesti plant already makes the Logan, Logan MCV and Logan Van, and the pick-up has fewer than 100 parts that are specific to it. Total investment for the new vehicle amounted to only €51 million – €22 million on development and €29 million on the production plant.

Pitesti has had a capacity increase from 235,000 vehicles in 2006 to 350,000 this year, and the investment in the plant totalled €100 million last year.
