| Gorden Wagener is to become head of the design division worldwide for Mercedes-Benz. He succeeds Professor Peter Pfeiffer, who will retire at the age of 65. Wagener is a 10-year veteran with Mercedes and has recently been in charge of the Strategic Advanced Design department with responsibility for the design studios in California and Japan. He heads the team that has been responsible for the F700 research vehicle. Previously, Wagener, who is 39, worked as head of the exterior/interior styling department and was responsible for the design of models making up the A-, B-, C-, E-, CLK- and CLS- classes. Pfeiffer has been with the Daimler Group for 40 years and has been head of design since 1999. His credits include all of the current range of Mercedes vehicles, the luxury Maybach car and the Smart Fortwo City coupé. |
