Indian authorities approve Daimler truck joint venture

27 March 2008

Indian authorities have approved the deal between Daimler Trucks and the Indian Hero Group for a joint venture to build trucks in India.

The deal will be finalised before the end of April when further details will be given, Daimler said.

The joint venture will produce light, medium and heavy duty trucks for the Indian market, based on existing Daimler models but tailored to local needs.

The deal needed the approval of India's Foreign Investment Promotion Board and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.
