Toyota is claiming a world-first with an airbag that deploys from the roof lining above the rear seats to protect passengers in the event of a rear-end collision.

The SRS Supplemental Restraint System is to be introduced on the iQ ultra-compact car. It pops out from the rear ceiling in the event of a collision and works with the headrests of the seats to cushion the heads of the occupants.
